Southern Utah Desert

We arrived home late last night from an amazing trip to one of my favorite places, Southern Utah. I have way too many photos, hmmmmm, that is an understatement. I am going to try to get myself organized enough to post a page a day of our trip. I love to visit Utah. It is good to be home in our own beds.

Are we the luckiest family to be able to go on vacation with Aunts, Uncles, cousins and Grandparents? I love it.

School's Out

Finally the last day of school came on Thursday. Neve and all of the kindergarteners put on a very nice show for all the parents. It was such a nice way to mark the end of Kindergarten.

They had a tropical theme, which was so darling...

She has so enjoyed her teacher Mrs. Mordoff. We had so much fun this year.

Maren had been elected to her classroom's Council and they hosted a root beer float party, where no grown-up's were invited or allowed. (i snuck in to take this shot). Maren loved her 2nd grade teacher, too. She will be missed over the summer and into 3rd grade.

After school we had to head for the pool party. This is what summer is all about. We started about 1 or so and Clay picked up pizza's for dinner and we went home about 8 or so. Yes, the kids pretty much swam that whole time. It made me tired to watch, so instead I just chatted with all the mom's and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Tired but blissfully happy kids.

The third child

We had our last day of school on Thursday (yahoo!). Of course, the girls' teachers send home backpacks full of papers and art for me to deal with. My girls are talented and prolific. We spend the better part of the next day sorting it all out and displaying some of their treasures. Kiera watched carefully, as all third children do. She is the master at deciding that whatever her sisters are doing, she should be doing, too. Fast forward to late that night when I discovered this little jem on the door to Kiera and Neve's room.

Neve had brought home her glitter name and photo that has been hanging in her classroom all year. I helped her use the sticky tack to put it up on the door.

Kiera didn't need any help or assistance. She used 5 pieces of tape to put that puppy up on the door (poor paint, I guess I need to get that off of there.) It is lovely, don't you think.

Santa Cruz Beach Birthday

Since the first time I laid eyes on this beach I knew I wanted to have a birthday party here. I don't know if it is the amazingly beautiful rock formation just off the beach, or the groves of eucalyptus trees on the bluff up from the beach, but I have a big crush on this place.

We celebrated both Kiera and Clay's June birthdays (missed you Mark!). I think I may have Clay convinced that we really should stay in California...

Guess who is three?

We had a little low key celebration today for Kiera's third (the big beach party is on saturday). She got a dora play tent that she was super excited about, some barbie crap, um stuff, and a cool book. She was thrilled with everything. Lots of people called to wish her a happy birthday and before they could give their birthday wishes, she would announce "it my birthday!" into the phone.

Maren made her this sweet crown.

Happy birthday, baby!

p.s. no she doesn't have some sort of skin issue above her top lip, that was just some unsupervised quality time with the 18 hour lipstick that was left out after the dance recital makeup session. yes, it has been 24 hours, and no sign of fading yet.

So I got a new job at church

And this is what Neve drew for me...is that congratulations or condolences?

The wait is over...
