Goodbye Summer!

I have grown so very fond of you over the years. I love your lazy mornings and adventure filled days. I will miss you desperately and long for your quick return.

To give you a proper sendoff, we went with the darling Blatter's boating on the delta. We loved how your sun warmed our skin and your soft sunset light made us look so pretty. We are in mourning already.

It is going to be a rude awakening for school in the morning. Fourth and Second grades, here we come!

There is a funny bit

just before the end. It is worth the watch...

North Coast

Are lots of people smoking? Swimmers in cutoff jean shorts? More dogs than people? If so, than you have arrived at one trashy swimming hole. This year the trashy factor was way down but the fun factor was up with all three girls willing to make the jump from some of the cliffs this year.

Perfect pit stop on our six hour drive up to the Northern California coast for three nights of camping bliss.

After our swimming hole diversion we drove the last 1.5 hours over the hills to the coast preparing ourselves to be immersed in a moody fog for the next three days. Closer and closer we came to our destination without a glimpse of fog. Strange. We didn't see fog a single time until we had broken camp and were getting ready to do our last hike at noon on our last day. So strange. Nice and sunny. The whole area was a completely different place than last year. The fog had endeared itself to me and I missed it.

We did all the hits this year. Hiking, climbing rocks, beach going, picture taking, roasting marshmallows, eating blackberries, laughing, crying, and eating a lot of junk.

We also tried some new things that are bound to become future favorites; floating down and cliff jumping into the Smith River, and making homeade ice cream unit dose style (thanks, Candy for bringing all the supplies) while freezing on the cliffs above the ocean.

Can't wait until next year. Anyone want to join us. Rehrer's: it's only a seven hour drive from the Portland area. We can only hope...

Nana Camp

My mom is the best. Seriously.

Who calls and says, "I want to have a Nana camp this summer for all the grandkids. When can your kids come?"

Welcome to Camp! Orientation time.

The week was organized and packed full of fantastic activities. I have not a clue what is happening is most of these photos (courtesy of Austen), but they are having fun and makin' memories.

From what I can recall from the itenerary there were tons of fun activities: star gazing, cooking, baking, sewing, sleeping outside under the stars with all the cousins, birdwatching, photo scavenger hunts, play writing, Kat Dealey impersonating, game playing, t-shirt making, farmers marketing, and nature hiking at Lost Lake.

Thanks Mom and Dad for a great week for all. It was a win-win for the Callaway family. Hopefully it will become an annual tradition! Love you.

Wild Water

Last week started out with a trip to Fresno and Wild Water for some slip slidin' fun.

We hit the mat rides, the wave pool, the tube rides and the big family river ride. It was nice and hot, so it was perfect for a day at the water park. No shivers for once!

Olivia

She is finally here. Safe and sound. And I got to snap a few of her and my one of my favorite people in the world. What a lucky girl she is. That Olivia.

Can you believe I have know Caitlin for 13 years. I can't be that old!

When our very own Nana was so far away in California, this lovely lady was our Grandma Kathy in Memphis. So fun to see her with all her adorable kids and grandkids.

I wanted to drink them all in. And steal them away for a private photo session without having to share them with anyone else! Miss you guys already.

Testing

After a lovely dinner with lovely friends the other night, their darling children posed a little for me. Mr. Ten Year Old Boy politely declined.

This girl is hilarious. She was art directing all along the way. I want you to take my picture here with me sitting like this. Or, I really LOVE this flower can I hold it in every shot?

Love the post "Clay's famous smoothie" face on this little guy. Yum.

Thanks for dinner. Again.

Snap Pea Photography?

Just sitting here contemplating what to call my photographic venture. What do you think? The snap pea idea is courtesy my darling friend Lisa. I would link to her, but we haven't been able to talk her into coming over to the blog side.

We were all sitting around the pool yesterday trying to think of great ideas for names and all the while I was snacking on snap peas. Voila. Other ideas?

Chartreuse Photography (my fav color). CallaLilly Photography (what I always called by newborn baby girls because they were my newest CallaWays). Red (enter something here) Photography. Just like red. Adore. Smitten. (I checked and there are lots of other photographers who had those same great ideas.) Any thoughts. You out there...
