Perfect pit stop on our six hour drive up to the Northern California coast for three nights of camping bliss.

After our swimming hole diversion we drove the last 1.5 hours over the hills to the coast preparing ourselves to be immersed in a moody fog for the next three days. Closer and closer we came to our destination without a glimpse of fog. Strange. We didn't see fog a single time until we had broken camp and were getting ready to do our last hike at noon on our last day. So strange. Nice and sunny. The whole area was a completely different place than last year. The fog had endeared itself to me and I missed it.

We did all the hits this year. Hiking, climbing rocks, beach going, picture taking, roasting marshmallows, eating blackberries, laughing, crying, and eating a lot of junk.

We also tried some new things that are bound to become future favorites; floating down and cliff jumping into the Smith River, and making homeade ice cream unit dose style (thanks, Candy for bringing all the supplies) while freezing on the cliffs above the ocean.

Can't wait until next year. Anyone want to join us. Rehrer's: it's only a seven hour drive from the Portland area. We can only hope...
